Exclamation STi Magnum"Expert Software" released (aka BS/RDR options)

We are pleased to announce the availability of an optional expert software update for STi Magnum which adds the following features:
  • Ka band segmenting - The ability to enable and disable certain frequency segments of the SuperWide Ka band. ONLY detector users that are familiar with what radar frequencies are used in the areas they drive should change these settings. It is possible to disable detection of Ka radar.
  • RDR toggle - The ability to disable Radar Detector Rejection false alert filtering.
You will need to send in your Magnum for this software update. To set this up please call us at 1-800-341-2288 from 8am-6pm Eastern Time Mon-Fri. Let the service expert you speak with know that you would like "the new Magnum software update". The fee for updating the software is $39.95.

All Magnums that are serviced will receive this expert software. If you would like your Magnum to be diagnosed and serviced then please let the service rep know this. Depending on the warranty coverage then you may charged a service fee.

All STi Driver to Magnum upgrades receive this expert software. If you are having a STi Driver upgraded to Magnum then the normal $99.95 fee applies.

To use the new Ka band segmenting and RDR features:
  • Use caution when changing these settings. Magnum will not alert to any radar signals that are present in the disabled Ka segment's frequencies. In the Magnum's programming menu under "bands", turn off Ka SW then turn on the Ka segments that you would like Magnum to detect. Reference the frequencies for each segment that are listed at the bottom of this post. For use in North America I recommend enabling at minimum Ka2, Ka5, and Ka8.
  • If you are changing the settings using the Escort Live app. In Escort Live's Radar Settings, turn "Ka" off then turn on the Ka segments that you would like the RedLine to detect. If you leave "Ka" on then the segment settings will not take effect in the detector.
  • Disable RDR for increased detection performance but with potentially more Ka false alerts from nearby radar detectors. RDR is listed in the "bands" settings, after TSR.
Once you have set these options they will remain set in your Magnum, even between power cyclings, until you change them or restore the unit's factory default settings.

The Ka segment frequencies, in GHz, are:
Ka1 = 33.392 - 33.704
Ka2 = 33.704 - 33.896
Ka3 = 33.886 - 34.198
Ka4 = 34.184 - 34.592
Ka5 = 34.592 - 34.808
Ka6 = 34.806 - 35.166
Ka7 = 35.143 - 35.383
Ka8 = 35.378 - 35.618
Ka9 = 35.595 - 35.835
Ka10 = 35.830 - 35.998

Thank you Bel Pro (Larry) and the folks at Beltronics for giving us another POWERFUL tool to combat speeding tickets!

Some who may see this are going to ask, what are the benefits, while the veteran detector users out here are jumping for joy.

For those who don't know, the ability to segment Ka band and turn off the RDR filtering improves response to Instant On radar and also improves detection range to either form, Instant on or Constant on.

Try it, you'll like it.

This is by far the best thing to come out for this unit since it was created. Even if you have to pay for the upgrade, do it. The performance value on this unit alone will be worth every cent invested. I have, and my STi Magnum performs toe to toe with a Redline, V1C, STi-R, STi-O and 9500ci on Ka Band.

Thank you so much Beltronics/Escort for listening to your customers!

Default Old Driver Now A Beast!

Many thanks to folks at Beltronics for getting this upgrade off the ground so to say!

For me, procrastination has paid off and I also feel like this a thanks for purchasing STi Driver back in the day (and sticking with it). My vintage 2008 Driver had a tune and solder flow in 2010 and has been back-up for my Redline since 2013. I had been wanting to send in my Driver for upgrade to basic STi Magnum for quite some time as this would get it tuned again and a few more db of sensitivity but when the opportunity came to upgrade to latest STi Magnum with seg and RDR toggle along with tune, speaker and warranty all for $99 I couldn't have been more pleased!!!!

Haven't had STi Magnum out much but the new speaker is a BIG difference! The unit came back with power last on and volume near full, OUCH! Running at 25% volume is plenty in a truck. Nice!

Once again, thanks Beltronics.

You will receive the same unit back and you do not need to include a note about adding segmentation. That is now a standard feature on STi Magnum.

Default Will this help me...

My STi Driver (not upgraded to Magnum) has been going crazy with K-Band false alarms for the past 6 months or so. Even when I'm in the boonies (middle of Francis Marion National Forest), this thing will sometimes go off multiple times for no reason. Will these upgrades fix my issues? I love this detector and paid handily for it, but the false alarms are driving me crazy. I drive through VA on a regular basis and need it, so thanks in advance for your help.
