Default Will Beltronics Ever Develop/Release F/W Upgrade to Alleviate the K-band False Alerts

Beltronics Pro: Will Beltronics ever develop and release a firmware upgrade for the STiR Plus, in order to alleviate the numerous, numerous false K-band alerts caused by the Blind Spot Monitoring, etc. systems on new cars? K-Band is almost useless in alerting me to actual K-band radar guns, due to the almost constant alerting to the K-band radar being emitted by new car's BSM, etc.

We are looking into solutions against these while still offering acceptable detection of police radar. We are unsure at this point if the STi-R Plus will be able to receive an update for this. Using Auto sensitivity mode and enabling TSR should help reduce these alerts.

Thank You for your reply. I have had TSR turned ON, since the systems were installed in my two cars. I am currently using HIGHWAY MODE Sensitivity, in order to obtain alerts at Maximum range. However, I will try AUTOSCAN MODE Sensitivity, and see if it helps reduce the K-band alerts caused by BSM, etc.

QUESTION: Without getting into proprietery information, how does the AUTOSCAN MODE Sensitivity work? In other words, what does it do? I have read what the STiR Plus Manual states, but it does not state what actually takes place.

If I am driving at a slow speed and I am not speeding, the K-band alerts are a nuisance, but I am not concerned about police radar, as I am at the posted speed limit.

However, if I am driving on a super-highway, where the speed limits are, say, 65 mph, and I am slightly over the speed limit, a K-band alert from the BSM systems of nearby cars causes extreme concern/panic/heart attack, as I do not know if the K-band alert is from a car with BSM, or if it is a true police K-band radar unit.

So, does the AUTOSCAN MODE Sensitivity increase the STiR Plus's sensitivity to K-band radar, caused by any source, as the car travels at a faster speed? Then, as the car slows to a lower speed, does the AUTOSCAN MODE Sensitivity decrease the STiR Plus's sensitivity to K-band radar, caused by any source?

Again, in other words: The faster the car's speed, the greater the sensitivity to K-band. The lower the car's speed, the lesser the sensitivity to K-band. Is this correct?

Hopefully you can provide information concerning the AUTOSCAN MODE Sensitivity, in order that I can understand how it works, and therefore intelligently decide how to configure my two STiR Plus systems, depending upon the various driving conditions I encounter.

Thank You in advance for your help and advice.

This is a large part of what Auto sensitivity does to X and K alerts. Ka alerts are not filtered.

I agree with AMG that this has been a problem, my radar goes off constantly even in TSR on mode and auto mode. I was hoping there was an update that would fix this issue.

Not good enough Beltronics. Ive just upgraded from STiR Plus to M edition for MRCD so I need K band. According to all advertising material it states

Digital Signal Processing (DSP) - Our patented AutoScan™ feature continuously analyzes all incoming signals and automatically rejects unwanted false alarms. This gives you the perfect balance of long-range warning without annoying false alarms.
Its been 3 years and you wonder why people jump to Stinger, unfortunately price was a factor for me so I stuck with Bel. When can we get an update on this. As far as I'm concerned the unit is not working as advertised and as others have mentioned, K band is now useless.
I hope Beltronics will do the right thing and resolve this and not leave us in the lurch while dev works on newer detectors. But given how you handled the lower freq 29.35 forcing us to upgrade to new receiver without providing this via firmware, which as stated I have now done! but I'm considering turning K band off now as its useless, so Ive wasted my $$?
I'm prepared to get a list of customers to rally with me and lodge with the FTC if Beltronics does not come to the party on this matter. I hope this can be escalated up the ranks of management so they are aware. Sorry for the threats but this is unacceptable for your loyal customers

The STiR plus is the flagship model so support needs to treat it that way with updates
Thankyou

I think support already answered your question. You need to use TSR and Auto to quite the K junk.

I think I would call in and ask to speak with management and politely discuss this matter with them. I don't think getting angry or threatening them will get things done any more quickly.

This is a very hard issue to fix, because these K band BSMs, CAS, are changing all the time.

Stinger also doesn't have this fixed perfectly either. Believe me, it's a problem for all detectors. You may think the grass is greener someplace else but you'll have these problems on any detector.

Do you have TSR on? That will help tremendously......

Lets keep our fingers crossed about the update. I believe that if they can get the update on to the remote units they will.

Angry Sorry I bought a Bel

I bought an STiR+ recently, having owned an Escort 9500ci in the distant past, which worked perfectly in my Porsche. I was in Virginia and DC where undetectability (it works) was important. The 9500ci worked great, so when I went to buy a new system for my new Porsche, I decided on the STiR+ because is offered band segmentation in the Ka bands. I am running Anti Laser Priority 5-head system for laser protection, so I am only concerned with radar at the moment. Since installing the STiR+ I have been suffering like everyone else with the K band falsing. I am now sorry I didn't bite the bullet and buy a Stinger radar detector. My present "solution" has been to turn off K band, but it leaves me vulnerable. Bel got my hard earned dollars, but it won't happen again, when all we hear from them are crickets. I am now looking to sell the STiR+ and buy a Stinger. I suspect this response won't remain on the boards long.
