Breaking news from Clemson! True freshman quarterback Chris Denson's injury status is the talk of the town. Coach Dabo Swinney shared an update with the media on Wednesday, just before the Tigers' crucial game against South Carolina this Saturday.
Denson, unfortunately, got his foot stepped on during Monday's practice while simulating South Carolina's quarterback, LaNorris Sellers. But here's the good news: Swinney reported that Denson showed improvement during Wednesday's practice. "Fortunately it wasn’t anything long-term," Swinney confirmed, which is a huge relief for the team.
This update is especially significant because Denson is fresh off a stellar performance. Last Saturday, he truly shined against Furman. The young quarterback ran for over 100 yards in a dominant victory, and he completed all 4 of his pass attempts for 22 yards. To top it off, he scored his first two career touchdowns, one rushing and one passing!
Denson, who joined Clemson in January, was a highly-touted recruit. Rivals ranked him as the No. 14 dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 class, and ESPN placed him at No. 25.
The Clemson Tigers, with a 6-5 record, are gearing up to face South Carolina, who currently stands at 4-7, at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia this Saturday. The game, a highly anticipated rivalry showdown, is scheduled to kick off at noon and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
But here's where it gets controversial... Do you think Denson's injury will significantly impact Clemson's game plan? What are your expectations for the upcoming game? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
