Last autumn, Brook, the white-ball captain, was involved in an altercation with a nightclub bouncer. According to reports, he was denied entry to the club and the situation escalated. This led to a formal disciplinary process by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

But here's where it gets controversial... The incident occurred before the third ODI in Wellington, where Brook scored only six runs. Adding to the drama, a video surfaced of Brook and teammate Jacob Bethell drinking, which was shared on social media.
This incident is particularly sensitive, as England's managing director of cricket, Rob Key, was already under scrutiny following a 4-1 Ashes defeat. He had to address allegations of a drinking culture during the tour of Australia. An unverified video of Ben Duckett seemingly intoxicated emerged shortly after Key addressed the media. Key had previously stated that excessive alcohol consumption was not expected of the team, adding, "From everything that I've heard so far, they actually were pretty well behaved. Very well behaved."
ECB chief executive Richard Gould announced a thorough review of the campaign after the Sydney Ashes Test defeat, covering tour planning, individual performance, behaviors, and the team's ability to adapt.
