Get ready for a behind-the-scenes revelation that will blow your mind! Michael Giacchino, the maestro behind the music of Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps, has a fascinating story to tell. But here's where it gets controversial...
Giacchino, a seven-time Marvel composer, revealed that he actually wrote two complete scores for the film! Yes, you read that right. During a panel discussion, he shared how he initially wrote a lot of the music before even stepping on set.
"I joined the project when Kevin Feige asked me to compose for the Comic-Con presentation. By the time they filmed, I had themes for Galactus and the Silver Surfer ready!" Giacchino exclaimed.
But here's the twist: when he saw the final cut, he realized his initial score didn't align with the movie's evolution. "Musically, I like to start at the beginning and end with the same vision. When I saw my music against the new version, it just didn't feel right," he explained.
And this is the part most people miss: Giacchino hinted that this isn't even the first time it's happened! Feige gave him a pickup day to rerecord, and he took the opportunity.
"You never know; it's all about taking educated guesses. We're not always right," Giacchino added.
So, what's next for this talented composer-turned-director? He's directing a follow-up to Werewolf By Night, a project he's passionate about.
"If you haven't seen it, give it a watch on Disney+. It's a great group art form, and I can't wait to share more about my directing journey with Warner Bros."
Stay tuned for more insights from the panel video, dropping on Monday!
