This project, led by Ontario's Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and contractors Kiewit-Dufferin Midtown Partnership, began in 2021 with the aim of replacing five overpasses and improving the highway's walls and ramps at Bronson Avenue. The initial timeline projected completion by the end of the previous year, but delays have persisted, with ramps at Lyon Street and Bronson Avenue remaining closed.
The latest closure is attributed to the need for additional work on a noise barrier, electrical systems, and drainage. Starting April 13, the right-hand eastbound lane will be closed, and the speed limit along that stretch will be reduced to 80 km/h. This closure is expected to persist until late summer, with further temporary lane and ramp closures anticipated over the summer months.
