The Rise of a Freshman Sensation: Utah's Byrd Ficklin Steals the Show
In a thrilling Saturday night showdown, the Utah Utes emerged victorious over Baylor with a dominant 55-28 win. But it was the performance of one young quarterback that truly captivated the audience and sparked controversy.
Enter Byrd Ficklin, a true freshman from Muskogee, Oklahoma. With two touchdown runs of 67 and 74 yards, Ficklin showcased his explosive speed and elusiveness, leaving defenders in his wake. And this is where it gets interesting. Ficklin's performance wasn't just a flash in the pan. He had already set a Utah quarterback rushing record with 151 yards in a previous game against Colorado. Against Baylor, he broke his own record, rushing for an impressive 166 yards on just six carries.
